"Ruuk Village" - a former coconut plantation

Ruuk Village is walking distance to Kalpitiya town center, and this allows you to freely move around. Visit the town center to get a cocktail dress stitched at one of the local tailors or just buy some colorful sarongs. You can enjoy one of the best Sri Lankan rice and curries at our restaurant while remaining surrounded by beautiful nature. There is no better way to discover authentic Kalpitiya.

The main challenge within the mission to integrate "Ruuk Village" into its surrounding was to place the cabanas in between the coconut trees. None of the 149 Coconut trees were harmed in the process.

Simple but yet ecological comfort is achieved using coconut leaves for the roof and locally available wood for the walls. These houses resembles historic houses along the beach where there was no clay to make the walls but only wood was available.

Each cabana has its own shower, which is built on to a coconut tree giving the best outdoor shower experience.

Since May 2014, all 5 cabanas ae now solar powered to ensure electricity even during day time.

The beds in the cabanas are unique, we can proudly say that it is one of a kind in Kalpitiya. Great care was taken to develop a bed where our guests can forget the fatigue of a day's activities ...
