When to come

June to September: our second season, with strong summer wind, a quiet lagoon and our best prices for solo travellers.

Mid December to February: our main season, with steady wind and warm days. Mid December to the end of January are our busiest weeks, so book early.

October is a quieter shoulder month with lighter, less reliable wind.

Questions before you choose

How much does a kitesurfing holiday in Sri Lanka cost at Ruuk Village?

A package at Ruuk Village starts at €345 per person for the four-day Kite Starter, €740 for the eight-day Zero to Hero, and €590 for the eight-day Kite Week with your own gear. Every price includes full board, your cabana, and the kitesurfing listed on that package's page. Peak pricing weeks (June to August and mid-December to February, a pricing period rather than a wind forecast) carry a small per-night surcharge.

Which kite package is right for me?

It depends on whether you have kited before. Kite Starter is a four-day try-it course for guests who have never flown a kite. Zero to Hero is an eight-day course for beginners who want to ride independently by the end of the week. Kite Week is for independent riders only and adds the Vellai Island kite safari.

Can I travel alone, or bring a partner who does not kite?

Yes to both. Singles get private lessons instead of group lessons on Kite Starter and Zero to Hero, since Ruuk Village rarely pairs solo travellers in a shared lesson. A non-kiting partner is welcome on any package; Kalpitiya also has dolphin watching, jeep safaris, and cooking classes beyond kitesurfing.

When is the best time for a kitesurfing package in Sri Lanka?

Kalpitiya has two main wind seasons, mid-May to September and mid-December to mid-March, with January and February the strongest winter stretch. October still has kiteable days on a smaller kite, and November is the quieter transition month before winter wind builds. Full month-by-month detail: kalpitiya-wind-season.

What is included in a Ruuk Village kitesurfing package?

Every package includes your cabana, full board (breakfast, lunch, dinner, tropical fruit, tea and coffee), and the kitesurfing instruction or gear listed on that package's own page. Airport transfers, upgrades, and optional extras are priced separately so the total stays transparent.
