Where is the best area to stay for kiting / kitesurfing in Sri Lanka?
Kalpitiya is the only place in Sri Lanka with reliable wind. Therefore the only kitesurf regions are found within the 40km strech of the Kalpitiya Penisula and island spots. Staying on the banks of the main kiting lagoon of Kalpitiya makes it easy for students, since there is no jeep or truck involvedd but a picturustic boat ride across the lagoon. And you can also do your first down winder back to the other side with the sunset.
